Ms. Rocio Lozano Collantes appointed
as new Head of IPPN
On
21 July 2006, Ms. Rocio Lozano Collantes was appointed the new Head
of the Peruvian Institute of Natural Products (IPPN).
Ms. Collantes was selected for the position on her merits as a
graduate of economics with substantial experience in the agro-export
sector, particularly in the field of natural ingredients. UNCTAD
BioTrade and PROMPEX are strengthening the natural ingredients
sector in Peru through IPPN as part of the national strategy for
BioTrade.
In
the coming months, Ms. Collantes will pay special visits to
partnering companies to IPPN to gain an overview of the
institution's corporate positioning and consolidate new projects to
further IPPN's
Operational Plan.
Ms. Jocelyn Ostolaza had been acting as IPPN
head for this interim period. Her contributions to the growth of the
organisation have been key to increasing its recognition, enlarging
the scope of its activities and increased membership. Ms. Ostlaza
continues to work as a BTFP consultant, facilitating the activities
of BTFP in Peru and other international activities that BTFP is
implementing in the region.
