BTFP supports value chains of biodiversity products and services which are consistent with the biotrade principles and criteria. Currently BTFP supports several value chains in various countries:

Natural ingredients
For several countries this sector provides key biotrade opportunities due to the wide variety of species, the associated traditional uses, the generation of income in rural populations and the development of small and medium enterprises.
Bolivia
Colombia
Ecuador
Peru
Uganda
Southern Africa
Vietnam

Ecotourism
The development of the sustainable tourism sector in Uganda is part of a national strategy to maximise the tourist potential of the country. The BTFP is supporting the development of a sector strategy for the eco-tourism niche.

Wildlife for pet trade
The Uganda Wildlife Authority initiated wildlife trade in 2000 as a pilot activity for conservation and generation of income at local levels. BTFP aims at facilitating sustainable trade,  improving management practices and strengthening
  legal frameworks.

Tropical flowers and foliage
The production of tropical flowers and foliages represents a high-potential sector in Colombia and provides opportunities for involving good practices to promote conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity.

Ornamental and edible fish
Paiche (Arapaima gigas) is one of the most preferred fish in the Amazon and was selected as a priority to promote tropical edible fish in international markets.
For ornamental fish, Peru is one of the most important exporters with 108 species exported out of the 150 that have been identified for their trade potential. The majority of identified species are harvested in the Amazon region.
