Generating market information through the BTFP and its partners consists of compiling and analysing information relevant to exporters and their target markets in order to support decision making.  This information is expected to be a useful tool to establish objectives, strategies and plans in both private (companies) and public organizations (NGOs, export promotion agencies, among others).

The market information generated by BTFP is demand-driven by its beneficiary counterparts in developing countries. In this context, BTFP has supported the elaboration of:

  • General market surveys: documents providing general market data to help exporters understand the overall characteristics of niche markets in a certain country or region.

  • Market briefs: documents providing a concise overview of the market for a specific product. It contains information on market developments and trade statistics.

  • Newsletters, concepts of experts and specialised press: informal documents collected by the BTFP providing market trends and discussing issues affecting the value chains selected through the BTFP.
